 Mold for Graham Lee Nieuports.

This is made for the Nieuport 17, which uses a full cowl, but it would be easy to change for the Nieuports that have the Horseshoe Cowl.

It is designed to make individual half cowls, each having a molded in joggled lip on one edge, so that the halves key together, with camlocks or captive hardware. You can make the joint vertical or horizonta

The mold is made from epoxy and has strengtheners to keep it stable. I am showing the two molded halves pushed together, and the sample I have is one that I made from epoxy and glass cloth, but was slightly heavier than I wanted. Then I made one with one less layer of cloth, that was used on my Nieuport 17.

The diameter is 34 inches, and the overall length, that can be trimmed, is 24 inches.

If the mold needs to be shipped, I can box it with 1/4 in ply for safe shipping.

Price, with the molded examples, not including shipping, is $200. I am willing to drive/deliver for 200 miles each way, for the gasoline, 20 mpg. Maybe to meet the buyer?

I have been flying a very nice 7/8ths scale SE5a (Replica Plans) for going on 11 years and as hard as it is to think about it I am considering selling it to finance the next project which hopefully will be a full scale Sopwith Pup. The SE5a has about 311 hours airframe and engine (SMOH). It is powered by a C85 Continental, 85 hp, which has performed flawlessly except needing to replace one sparkplug which had failed. I was able to fly it from Oshkosh to south of Indianapolis with it this way so it really presented no problems. I did recently modified the cowling to lower the oil temperature which was accomplished. It is equipped with a Genave Alpha 200B nav com radio and has recently had new tires, stainless steel flying wires, seat covering and has been hangared in a natural temperature well ventilated hangar since new.

The aircraft weighs 748 lbs. -dry, empty- and has about a 22 gal fuel capacity. It is painted in the colors and insignia of the 84th, RAF and carries the N number of NC'6457 which was the number flown by General George A. Vaughn, Jr.,
in 1918 a USAS lieutenant attached to the RAF. He was the 2nd highest ranking American ace to survive the war, while, before he was reassigned to the 17th U.S. Camel Squadron. I had been in correspondence with Gen. Vaughn during the
construction of my SE5a and he was alive when it was first flown. I sent him a photo of it in flight for which I received another wonderful letter. Copies of all these letters are part of the documentation of this aircraft. This is a delightful, comfortable and easy aircraft to fly. It has been a great joy in my life and has garnered several "Best Homebuilt Aircraft"
awards. If I do decide to sell it I will want the buyer to be as pleased with it as I am so the price will reflect what I consider to be fair and in line with market prices for comparable custom aircraft. I have not, however, determined what that price will be or by what method, i.e., direct sale or auction.

Anyone interested in this aircraft may E-mail me comments or questions.
